Deconstruction & Construction

Hope you had a wonderful holiday and may have baby J. brought you all you wished for. As for myself, I saw two fantabulastic features this weekend, " Slumdog Millionaire" and "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button". Highly recommend 'em.

Wes Anderson Movie Bender

That's right, gonna make my way through three Wes Anderson films this weekend like a real movie watching pro. Starting tonight in chronological order, as it should be done. I never had the chance to do this before but this weekend I'm just going to escape into his wonderful elaborate film sequences and dialogue. Something to do with failure and finding beauty in flaws.

Gum

I've been noticing gum on pavement for a while now and can't help but wonder; "Juicy Fruit, Bazooka, Bubble Yum, good gum, bad gum?

Sunflower

A young boy and his mom waiting at the bus stop eating sunflower seeds. He picks a handful and one gets through his little fingers and down to the patch of dirt below, there it lives for a couple weeks protected by weeds until the rainfall we had a few weeks back. Some water, lots of sun and a little something special.

Droplets

Physics in action. I've always wondered if raindrops travel in a direct unique path, kind of like a fingerprint or a snowflake; no two draindrops travel the same path....hmmm.

Felt Club Holiday Expo

I took a trip down to the Shrine yesterday to check out some of the crafters that are part of the Felt Club (not to be confused with the fight club), and had such a wonderful time seeing it all.....I wanted to buy something from every booth!! It was a total nerd fest and I had a great time. Here are some of the business cards I picked up. The cards alone feel like a little piece of special.

:)))) Prop 2

New Day

The elation I feel this morning is like no other, never have I felt  this way and can only imagine that this is what it was like when Kennedy or Abraham Lincoln won, but even then, this is truly a glorious and historic moment of its own, on so many different levels........I'm just happy to be here alive and a part of it.  One of my favorite parts of his acceptance speech last night was when he spoke of Michelle Obama.
All I can say is that this is one Fine day, a long time in the making.

This place is so amazing, it's divided into different gardens from around the world. One day isn't enough time to enjoy it all. Plus it's the home of 'The Blue Boy'.

Light

Whoah! So I totally love seeing morning light in my bedroom.  For the past three mornings, there has been a beam of light that comes in through the window straight into my furbies belly............his belly gleams and shines for a short radiant minute 'till the light falls off onto the wall. This is how I know it's near 7. I was fascinated by this alone, but this morning, something wonderful happened......A big circle of light encompassed part of my specials wall, this is where I keep gifts, notes, my rocks and other rad things i've come across, and there it was.....a beautiful beam  and circle of light...staring from Benny's painting round through my furby....it only lasted for a second, a short brief second, then it was gone.

Bruze Mozert's Life Aquatic

I found some of Mozert's images from his Silver Springs Series and they sort of remind me of the new Target Ads minus The Beetles music. Mozert built a giant waterproof housing for his camera in the 30's when underwater photography was still undiscovered. He photographed underwater scenes of everyday American life in Silver Springs, Florida, for the next 45 years! What heart.

Enough is Enough

......I wonder who came up with that saying, I hear my mom say it every once in a while and it always makes me chuckle...but yeah, I've been saying it a bit myself lately, I suppose it goes along with my sense of wanting to do more. More shooting, baking, walking, hiking, biking, writing, reading, all the things I love doing.........I finally feel like i'm waking up from this slumber......Man that was rough, but here I go. I have my bike and camera as well as all of L.A. to continue exploring. oH yea, so this is from this afternoon.......

Chai

Ventured out this past weekend to my local Indian market and finally got the ingredients to make Chai.  I was floored by the the variety of smells and myriad of spices, teas, compotes, some of which, I've never seen or have the slightest idea of how they're used.
I met a woman there that gave me great advice on the brands of tea to buy as well as what spices to use, and they go as follows:

Taj Mahal  (orange pekoe black tea) // or Darjeeling
Fennel Seeds
Clove
Ginger (fresh or powdered)
Cinnamon (sticks or powdered)
Cardamon Pods (green)
Milk (what ever kind you prefer)
Sugar

For a single large cup I use 2 teaspoons of tea, a pinch of fennel seeds, about five cloves, equal parts of ginger to cinnamon (powdered), and 3 cardamon pods (smashed).
Boil it all together and let it steep for a few mins. to let all the flavors out and strain.
This is only one version to try but you can always change the proportions to fit your cup of tea. mmmm, so good for you!

Absolutely

Ay tu primo colorado
Con barba camburada
Y lleno de ballena
Inclinadose al sol
Ay tu rayo de luz roja
Besando nuestra boca
El beso que te sopla
Huele a alcohol
Ay tus tres ojos lunares
Extraterrestriales
Entran quando sales
Por eso no se ven
Ay tu barba colorada
Traviesa y rebelde
Me afeito con espada
Pero devuelve

La la la la la la...

Si la noche te persigue
Entrégate a ella
O dile que tienes dolor de cabeza
Sombrita de reflejo
Dame algo tierno
Me como tu amor
Y cago el infierno

Adio, adio, adio
Primo granje
Hola Bernardo...

La la la la la la la...

Ay tus ojos colorados
Azul y anaranjados
Amarillo verde y marrón
Mi amor envuelto en tu corazón
No lo sueltes por favor
Somos elefante y serpiente semejante
Tomando aguardiente
En el sol
De una flor...

La la la la la la la...
